An introduction to Cherie’s world

Hello there everyone! I am currently working on my fourth class with Boston University’s online MSIM program and enjoying it, most days. Just when I think I must have some sleep we get a one week break so all is well.

I am married to a wonderful man, Michael, who supports me and always has a good one liner when I need it most and we have a beautiful little girl, Sara, who makes everyday fun. We have two dogs and a cat as well and by the way I am also due in August with our second little girl. Still no name picked out yet so I am open for suggestions. We love to travel and be outside as much as we can. My daughter likes to paddle over to Pirate Island with my brother and his son. We have a good time singing pirate songs and exploring. I have posted a photo of my family on our summer vacation last year. This photo is us at Crater Lake. We like colder destinations in the summer as we live in the southeast.

I work in the insurance industry in a claims department handling claims in the field and I love my job. Most days I just get to help people through a hard time. The only time it is truly hard for me is when children get hurt or killed that is rough. However having a job like that keeps you constantly appreciating your family and the fact that they are safe. It lets you put the small aggravations in perspective quickly. I also teach yoga at our local hospital rehab center and at a local community center. I enjoy my yoga classes as they are like second families to me.

In my spare time, because I have so much of it, I work on raising money for or local Down syndrome group. Currently I am raising money for the conference to take place in 2011. I got involved in this because our daughter has Down syndrome and the group helps me so much with information on education, medicals needs and carrier options for adults as well. All parents need some type of support and those with special needs children just need a little more sometimes.
